Technologies as it relates to small business opportunities and agro-processing was key area of presentation, when officials from the Christian Valley Mango Festival Public Relations Committee, participated, in the recent Information Communication and Technology road show, in Monsterrat.
Representing, the Public relations Committee were Ken Shipley, of Search Antigua and Julie –Ann Laudat, IICA, Technical Specialist.
According to Shipley, the Antigua Mango fest participants facilitated the conference on small business opportunities using ICT.
Shipley, Web Development Expert focused on ICT how the Antigua Mango Festival used some of the new technologies to promote the local festival, while Laudat, outlined, the specificity of food processing and the benefit, that can be derived to small businesses and cottage industries.
Shipley said, the seminar was well attended and engaging.
The Secretary General, was impressed with the presentation and proposed other opportunities for members of the Mango Fest Committee, on the CTU, road trip throughout the Caribbean where mangoes and other fruits are in abundant supply.
Shipley says the Montserrat Tourism board, has expressed interested in the sponsorship for the 2010 Mango Festival in Antigua.
“They expressed very positive remarks about our presentation and were quite frankly impressed at how big the festival had become in Antigua. They would like to have a booth at our event showcasing some of the agro products made in Montserrat as well as signage and banners promoting the Montserrat Tourism Product,” he says.
The launch of Mango Fest is May 6.
