The International Coastal Clean-up Day on Sunday, 19th of September, was very much needed, according to Ellen Shipley, Marketing Manager of Search Antigua Inc., accompanied by the Recycling Cadet’s of Antigua and Barbuda. The Recycling Cadet’s are a part of the volunteers under the Antigua and Barbuda Waste Recycling Corporation, www.abwrec.com , and are always very active in keeping the twin island state clean.
“What we have seen today, confirms that we really need to come together as a Nation and teach our children about recycling and Waste. We brought up plastic bottles, cans, glass and even vehicle parts from the beach.” Ellen continues by saying “The Ocean is like a soup of plastic. Every where you look, there is something plastic floating”.
“It is however, amazing to see that we had such a bit turn out of younger people to assist in the clean up and that can set right example for their friends, family. Antigua and Barbuda deserves to be kept clean.”
Search Antigua has been very active in sending out a positive message to increase people to use the recycling Plant and showing the importance of recycling overall by creating a recycle video to get the attention of the younger generation. For pictures: www.facebook.com/SearchAntigua
