“Antigua and Barbuda Working Together To End Gender –based Violence”

“16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence” is an international campaign to call for the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence, or violence against women. The campaign’s start and end dates, November 25: International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and December 10: International Human Rights Day, were chosen by campaign organizers in 1991 to symbolically link violence against women and human rights, emphasising that violence against women is a human rights violation.

16 Graduate From Basic Security Training

St. John’s, Antigua - With the recent creation of the Private Security Registration Act, Supreme Security has already taken up the mandate to train ALL their officers ahead of the certification date with the third installment of their Basic Security Officer Training course. Julian Rogers, General Manager of Observer Media Group and keynote speaker at the recently held graduation of the trained officers, charged the graduates to contribute to creating a new image for security officers.

AUA Contributes Funds Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Antigua Barbuda Defence Force

American University of Antigua (AUA) has made a financial contribution to support the September 1st festivities marking the 30th anniversary of the Antigua Barbuda Defence Force (ABDA).

None machine-reabable passports out-of-date by the end of 2011

All citizens who currently use the older version of Antigua & Barbuda passports have been put on notice that the travel document will become out-of-date by year-end, and are therefore being advised to apply for the new machine-readable passports in the upcoming months. Minister of National Security and Labour Senator Dr Errol Cort made this disclosure during his presentation on the 2011 Budget Debate in the Upper House, saying that continued use of the outdated passports is now a security concern.

Crime Stoppers First Year Anniversary

St John's, 23rd November 2009....Crime Stoppers Antigua officially launched on 6th November 2008 is now one year later, planning a Cocktail Party to celebrate its first anniversary and to bring together the community at large in support of this critical organization.
