Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association offers Scholarships at ABHTI

The Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association (AHTA) is pleased to announce its annual scholarship programme for nationals of Antigua & Barbuda. The scholarships is for a two-year associate degree course at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) in both Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.
Neil Forrester, AHTA’s general manager, is very pleased with the academic performance of the current recipients of the scholarship programme.

Launch of the Community Youth Development Initiative

The Department of Youth Affairs announces the National Launch of the Community Youth Development Initiative under the theme ‘Transforming Communities through positive youth development”. This National Launch will take place at the Simon Bolivar Centre, Johnsons, on Thursday 22nd March from 9am to 1:30pm.

The Department of Youth Affairs extends a special invitation youth, youth groups, youth serving organizations and agencies, the business sector and the media to attend the launch and symposium. We look forward to your support and spirited input.

Joanne C. Hillhouse’s latest book - Oh Gad!

Antiguans and Barbudans living overseas who’ve contemplated moving home may identify with Joanne C. Hillhouse’s latest book, about a woman doing just that. Publisher, Simon & Schuster by way of Zane’s Strebor imprint, on its website, describes the book – Oh Gad! – as “a stirring novel about a woman facing cross-cultural odds and redefining everything she understands about her family, herself, and the country she’s never really been able to call home”.

Students Encouraged To Choose Career Path In Environment in Antigua and Barbuda

23 February 2012 St. Johns, Antigua: The platform was set for students to explore careers in the field of environment, exchange ideas with professionals, retrieve information on summer internship and possible projects during the second annual careers day, held Thursday at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre.

Organized as part of the ongoing Environment Cadet Program students representing approximately four (4) schools were encouraged to consider careers in the field of environment.

This year, the event was held under the theme “Green Opportunities.”

PRIZE OFFERED FOR THE SCHOOL WITH THE MOST WADADLI PEN SUBMISSIONS

Wadadli Pen announces the return of a school prize for the school with the most submissions, a prize last offered in 2005 – not surprisingly the competition’s best year in terms of number of submissions. The gift will be something of benefit not just to the individual but to the wider school community. The organizers of the Wadadli Pen Challenge 2012 being held in corporation with the Best of Books urge language and literary arts teachers, especially, to embrace this as an opportunity to challenge their students.
