Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) Hosts Students from the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Secondary School on Career Day

St. John’s, Antigua, April 14, 2010 – The third form students from the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School today were hosted by the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre as a part of their Career Day activities. For the investment of about two hours, students learned about careers in the healthcare field and the paths they need to take to accomplish they’re goals.

“Almost every healthcare professional is in demand today,” said Salma Crump, Marketing & Communications Manager at MSJMC. “The jobs are tremendously interesting, call for a variety of skills, help people directly or indirectly and are an integral part of the community.”

During the two hour tour, students got a hands-on, close-up look at a variety of career fields, as well as learn about the subject areas they need to focus on in school if they are interested in a particular career. The professionals they interacted with included nurses, pharmacists, technologists, therapists, public relations, dietary and others.

“Our goal was to provide the students with a very visible and easily understood representation of the opportunities in healthcare. Plus it gave them an chance to interact with professionals who were able to give them guidance with regards to the education and training needed to enter the profession they were interested in,” says Crump.
