From the sandy white beaches of the beautiful Caribbean island of Antigua, Ricardo Anthony was born to a family of strong musical lineage. Rico, as he is popularly known, is the first grandson of cultural icon Oscar “Music” Mason the pioneer, the innovator, the trail blazer who is one of the founders of the Caribbean’s greatest summer festival, Antigua’s Carnival.
With years of experience gained as a dynamic performer Rico is one of the most prolific and sought after drummers and entertainers around the world today. He has toured throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa and the Caribbean and performed with great stars like Chaka Khan, Andy Narell, Nagee, Arturo Tappin Atlantic Records recording artist Rupee and the Dot Com band as well as being drummer and music director for world famous Soca Star Arrow of ‘Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot’ fame.
Rico has performed at world famous concert halls Madison Square Gardens, Radio City Music Hall, King Hussein’s Palace in Morocco, and The Royal Albert Hall in London, England where he shared the stage with mega stars like Elton John, Sting, Phil Collins and Eric Clapton. As a front man/entertainer Rico performed at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center and Animal Kingdom in daily performances as well as special Disney productions in Malaga Spain.
Rico has now expanded his talents from drummer/entertainer, to producer, composer and vocalist. He has turned to physics to create a new musical formula in which elements of Calypso, Dance Hall, Reggae and Brazilian Samba rhythms undergo transformations with elements of Hip-Hop, R&B and Rap. With the release of this great new energy Rico brings to life his CD “Get Rated” featuring 14 tracks of brilliant rhythmic fusion. The first single, “Spanglish”, topped the charts on vibes fm.com in the U.K and is introducing the world to the newest invention in the Caribbean culture. It is with this fresh new fusion of rhythms that Rico continues in the ways of his grandfather Oscar “Music” Mason to share with the world the infectious rhythms and culture of Antigua and the Caribbean.
