St. Johns Co-operative Credit Union Loans Officer Ms. Claudette Harris was selected from among the OECS credit unions for a scholarship training in “community-based Micro-financing”, to COADY International Institute - St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada

The intensive professional certificated course was afforded jointly through a part scholarship from COADY International Institute, the collaboration of Eastern Caribbean Co-operative Central Ltd and her employers, the St. John’s Co-operative Credit Union.

The programme will enhance the Credit Union’s human resource capacity with skills and strategies to fulfill its commitment to members and to be “the Credit Union of choice for small entrepreneurs”.

Today, about 600 million people in the world lack access to basic financial services to help build assets for their households and communities and Credit Unions, through their people helping people and community building philosophy have historically led the way in identifying potential and innovative means of helping individuals to be self reliant with emphasis on equity, asset building as well as responsible credit.
