November 6, 2009…Organizers of the seafood fiesta, set for Sunday, November 8th, at the Urlings Wharf, are expressing their readiness.
Events Cordinator , Marcelle Freeland John said an action packed activity and entertainment schedule is already in place, which will encapsulate the entire family from 2pm –until.
She listed, among the line –up fishing and swimming competition, bounce castle, boat tours and a host of other activities.
So far, an information booth is earmarked for the venue as the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment through its Fisheries Division continue its effort in promotion and sustenance of the fishing sector.
Like, the previous seafood Fiesta, held July 19, anticipations are high that a magnificent display of seafood dishes ranging from curried conchs, grilled lobsters, sea crabs, fried and stew fish, shrimp, and conchs water, among others will water the lips of the thousands of patrons who turn out to Sunday's Seafood Fiesta.
Already several hotels across the island have indicated their commitment to include on their schedule, for this Sunday, the Seafood Fiesta, as the place to be.
Sumptuous food
Seafood Lovers, can also expect, fish accompanied by servings of, rice, white dumplings, seafood roti or bread.
And for those too busy to eat an entire meal, they could simply have a cup of fish or conchs water.
"The seafood fiesta really is developing and it is showing the potential for better things to happen; the heat is raging, fishermen are on board, community spirit is high and the food tastes great,'' said Freeland –John, “ you must be there.”
She noted that individuals will also be given an opportunity to purchase uncooked seafood on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment Hilson Baptiste expressed that the seafood fiesta is a work in progress and that as it grows to be a household name, it will be fine-tuned.
“This one will be better than the one we had in July because work has been done to ease the shortcomings of this staging,” said Baptiste.
He said he is impressed with the planning stage and commended the team for their effort.
The highlights of the day comes as a surprise and organizers are expecting bigger and better things at the next seafood fiesta as the Ministry seeks to place the activity on the calendar of events.
