The owners of Island Aviation , Chief Pilot Lloyd Sheppard and Business man Joseph Doway have finally crossed the hurdles and are ready to open the doors to Island Aviation Aero Club, a club meant to build camaraderie among retired pilots, active pilots, student pilots, aircraft engineers and aircraft mechanics. Members will be able to build their flying hours or learn to fly. The members will also be able to rent the airplanes for their personal use. The club has two trained flight instructors
Flight and ground examinations will be conducted by Ace Flight Center on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. One of the pleads of this club is that trainees will be able to fly as frequent as their schedule will allow them, so they will have have to wait years to gain their PPL (Private Pilot License).
Training will begin by mid December 2009. The club also plans to have "Gift Certificates" for Christmas. That would allow a person to take an Introductory Flight with an instructor for 30 mins, flying over Antigua. High School boys and girls interested in Aviation are very welcome.
