Lions & Red hot Team Up for Haiti

It’s all systems go for the fundraiser in aid of Haiti organized by the Lions Club of Antigua and Oungku & Red Hot this Saturday 6th February at the Lions Club.

Lions Fundraising & Finance Chairman Bobby Reis said that the event will take the form of a Concert and Dance,

“While the Antigua Lions Club has already donated US$10,000 to Haiti, we wanted to be able to give everyone the chance to get involved. We held discussions with Oungku, who also wanted to do something and we decided to host a Concert and Dance. The concert will start at 8:00 pm and will feature Oungku’s greatest hits over the past 25 years. We are also working on trying to get Hero and Soca King of the World, Arrow but this is still to be confirmed. From 10 pm we will swing into the regular dance party mode that we are so famous for during carnival,”

Reis continued, “We will also have an area set up where folks can make additional contributions to assist Haiti. We give the assurance that all profits raised will go directly to aid Haiti. Lions are governed by our international rules which dictate that all profits raised from the public must go back to the public.

The money raised will be sent to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) Hope for Haiti Fund.

It is also important to note that we did not just arrive in Haiti because of this disaster. LCIF has been working and giving assistance for many years. We were there long before the earthquake and we will still be there long after the television cameras and the media move on. LCIF is working directly with Lions of Haiti as well as Lions in neighboring countries to develop a long-term reconstruction plan.”

Lions International is the largest and most respected service organization in the world with approximately 1.3 million members in 205 countries. The Antigua Lions Club was chartered in 1968.
