NODS Relief Efforts Update

February 4, 2010…Relief efforts for earthquake-stricken Haiti are ongoing at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).

So far the department has dispatched a quantity of medical supplies and dry goods to disaster victims through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

NODS Director Philmore Mullin said, the relief efforts by CDEMA will continue for some time well into the future.

“Every little bit helps. We are encouraging everyone to give what they can. Even if it’s a small donation it makes a difference.” Mullin said.

Mullin is also encouraging residents to donate to the Antigua Haiti Disaster Response 2010 account at the Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB).

The account number is 107070072. This account is a part of the wider CARICOM efforts to raise funds to assist our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Persons that would like to donate medical supplies and/or dry goods to the ongoing Haiti relief efforts are asked to bring their contributions to NODS headquarters on American road or call 462-4206.

Please note these items have to be in good condition.

The public’s response to the relief efforts has been commendable, and NODS would like to publicly thank the following individuals and businesses for their contributions.
