For three nights, the three hotels making up Antigua Resorts will be hosting special dinner events in aid of the people of Haiti.
Director-General of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross (ABRC), Gerald Price, said that the Verandah Resort and Spa, one of the three hotels, has held a fund-raising dinner and they have already received a cheque of $5,000.
Price added that they are expecting the same to be done at the St. James’ Club and Galley Bay Hotel during the course of this week – the event at St. James’ Club would have taken place last evening. As of Tuesday, the ABRC recorded approximately EC$190,000.
On Wednesday morning, a cheque of $22,235.98, donated by the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association (ABCTA) and the donation from the Verandah Resort was added to this amount.
Price said that they are encouraging the public to make donations to the many other organisations that are seeking to aid Haiti.
To further promote this, they are considering discontinuing all fund-raising efforts at the end Feb.
