St John's, Antigua (20th February 2010) - Like every success story, it all starts with a humble beginning. Truer words could not be said, as ever year the volunteer members of JCI Antigua execute not only their chapter's largest project, but the Caribbean's longest running pageant; the annual Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show, affectionately termed by its supporters as CQS.
Antigua and Barbuda will play host once again on Friday 30th July 2010 at 8:00pm, Carnival City (ARG); as delegates representing vying Caribbean countries compete onstage to see who will walk away as this year's 49th Jaycees Caribbean Queen.
A project management committee has been established and has already started the work in chartering the way forward for the 2010 production. The 49th production committee will be chaired by Chairperson Ms. Brenda Albert, a past president of JCI Antigua.
Chairperson Brenda highlighted that in keeping with the annual theme of the project, which is "Integrating the Caribbean Through Pageantry", the committee will focus this year's show production on "Embracing the Effects of Climate Change - A Tropical Fantasy". The good chairperson went on to elaborate that this focus was selected, in a bid to raise public awareness and action on the devastating effects of climate change, already being recognized within the Caribbean region.
The committee promises an unforgettable show for 2010 and is extending an open invitation to entities interested in participating, sponsoring or advertising in the production to review the 2009 production at www.jayceesqueenshow.com and to contact the 2010 committee at (info@jayceesqueenshow.com) or 723-4816 (Chairperson Brenda Allbert)
