Rex resorts target local groups to boost business
With the economic downturn set to continue for a while longer, Antigua and Barbuda’s vital tourism industry will continue to feel the effect of reduced visitor arrival in the usual slow summer months.
However, at least one resort is seeking to keep staff employed by drumming business among the local clientele.
The Rex resorts have been promoting a Staycation programme which is targeting groups, associations and organisations as well as families.
“We have had meetings with banks, social clubs and associations to encourage potential clients to come to Hawksbill or Halcyon Cove by rex resorts to spend some time,” said Richard Michelin, the General Manager.
“We are cognisant of the challenges people are facing in travelling overseas for a vacation and we want to do something to give them a chance to still enjoy a bit of a break from their usual routine,” Michelin added.
Various social and business organisations have taken advantage of Hawksbill’s Staycation packages so far. Our specials include an all-inclusive room package, island cruises with Treasure Island and day passes at discounted prices.
At the Halcyon Cove, there is also the option of having lunch on the Warri Pier on Tuesdays and Sundays. Its new menu and wine selection has been designed to cater for the business person on the go.The Warri Pier is also opened on Friday for lunch.
