Sandals Rides for Charity

The Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Sandals organization, has teamed up with the Antigua Cycle Association and Bike Plus, for the first ever Trans-Antigua Cycle Challenge.

.

The Aim of this event, is for the Sandals Foundation to raise funds to facilitate the building of a volleyball court for its adopted charity; The Good Shepherd Home. The objective is to keep the girls not only active, but also healthy.

Sandals Grande Antigua has entered its own team and intends to also raise sponsorship through its hotel guests who are interested in contributing to this worthy cause. A number of Sandals team members have signed up for the challenge, some experienced and some first timers while others have volunteered their time and effort to ensure that this event is a success. The Sandals Foundation, The Antigua Cycle Association and Bike Plus, extends an invitation to the public to join us in this charitable venture. There is a sign up fee of $20 (Twenty dollars). All interested parties should enter through Bike Plus.

This event is slated for Saturday May 15th 2010. The Challenge will commence at 6am with a cyclist breakfast and then the official start at 7am from Sandals Grande Antigua. Crossing the Island participants will have completed the challenge when the route culminates at The Grand Pineapple Resort.

The Sandals Foundation organizers, along with its co-sponsors are quite excited about this up and coming event and look forward to receiving the support of the local public, as we continue to build and foster community spirit.
