During the tourism off season the Ministry of Tourism, ABCTA and tourism stakeholders will focus on the retraining of service industry workers to prepare for the season 2010/ 2011 in an effort to improve the visitor experience as well as Antigua and Barbuda as a tourism destination. In this regard, the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association (ABCTA) will be hosting a two day training program for taxi drivers and tourism stakeholders commencing June 22, 2010. The training programs entitled Caribbean Taxi Pride and Service Excellence/Cruise Passengers Equal Profits will be facilitated by Senior Vice President of FCCA Mr. Adam Ceserano of Florida USA. The training is intended to improve the customer service skills of our cruise tourism workers whereby improving the destination’s marketability and other customer related services.
The workshops will mainly target taxi drivers, vendors, tour operators, travel agents, hotel workers, store clerks, security, police, immigration, customs and liaison officers, inspectors and all persons involved in the business of customer service, sales and marketing. Each session will cater for a maximum of 300 persons per workshop.
The Service excellence workshop explains the importance that excellent customer service makes to the destination and the cruise industry’s economic impacts. It also looks at customer needs and demonstrates the proper attitude required to deliver higher tourist satisfaction.
Caribbean Taxi Pride workshop is relevant to tour operators and vendors providing ground transportation to cruise passengers. It will focus on the delivery of courtesy, professionalism, marketing, rules and safety.
