Strategizing to support agriculture policy in the Caribbean

Regional stakeholders in the agriculture policy process meet in Trinidad to develop a medium term strategy for the Caribbean Agricultural Regional Policy Network (CaRAPN) which seeks to support the agriculture policy process in the Caribbean.

July 28, 2010, Port Of Spain, Trinidad …The meeting to develop a Medium Term Strategy for the Caribbean Regional Agricultural Policy Network (CaRAPN) began in Trinidad with a call for an integrated and harmonized regional policy framework towards the reduction of food importation into CARICOM countries.

Another Seafood Fiesta planned for August 8th, 2010

St. Johns Antigua, July 15, 2010… Back by popular demand, the date for another seafood fiesta is being set, for August 8, 2010 at the Urlings Wharf, from 12 –noon.

The seafood fiesta is an effort by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment geared towards the continuation of its promotion of sustainable Livelihood.

Fisher-folks, vendors and residents, are encouraged to participate and patronize and join in the abundance and variety of seafood offered, at the Seafood Fiesta.

Number of Chefs Increased For Magic Mango Culinary Competition

St. Johns, Antigua, July 6, 2010 … The Magic Mango Culinary Competition which forms part of the annual Christian Valley Mangofest has recorded an increase in chefs’ participation.

But, Madeleine McComas, Chairperson of the Magic Mango Culinary Competition says, although the bartenders’ competition showed a decline from 11 to six, she is optimistic that the initiative will continue to boost its “high standards.”

The Antigua Seafood Fiesta Emphasizes Sustainable Livelihood

St. Johns-Antigua July 5, 2010 …. As the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment, continue to promote sustainable Livelihood, fisher-folks, vendors and residents, turned –out in their numbers, Sunday (July 4), at the Urlings Wharf to celebrate in the abundance and variety of seafood offered, at the Seafood Fiesta.

The Antigua Seafood Fiesta finalised.

Plans are in its advanced stage for the third seafood fiesta at the Urlings Wharf, which is planned for July 04, 2010.

Events Coordinator Marcelle Freeland-John said so far, 18 –vendors have been confirmed for the activity which began at 12 noon

The activity which co-incides with world fisherman’s Day, is an effort by the ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment to promote sustainable livelihood.

The seafood Fiesta, Johns reiterated is a family affair.

“There will be lots of fun, surprises, bounce Castle for the children, and great entertainment.”
