RBC Royal Bank of Canada makes donation to Crime Stoppers Antigua

St John's 26th July 2010 - RBC Royal Bank of Canada today made a donation to Crime Stoppers Antigua as part of its continued campaign to give back to the community. Kathie Antonio, Account Officer together with Robin Shaw, Country Manager for Antigua and Montserrat handed over a cheque to Crime Stoppers Antigua Chairman Neil Forrester at a short ceremony at the bank 's headquarters on High & Market Streets .

Agriculture Moves Ahead with petition drive, 1 billionhungry.org

July 22, 2010…. Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment has joined forces with other international bodies as part of the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nation -led effort/petition drive, 1 billionhungry.org to reduce poverty as per the Millennium Development Goals.

The main tool of the campaign is a worldwide petition drive.

P.D.M making plans to launch "T.A.A.B" watchdog group

Dame Louise Named Patron of St. John’s Restoration Appeal

Governor-General Dame Louise Lake-Tack was named the patron of the restoration appeal at the St. John’s Cathedral. The announcement came at the ceremony on Sunday afternoon that marked the official launching of the project. Nine other public figures; the Right Reverend Errol Brookes, Winston Bailey, Pedro Corbin, Errol Cort, Eustace Francis, Lionel Hurst, Harold Lovell, Dame Yvonne Maginley, Dr. Reginald Murphy and Sir Vivian Richards; were bestowed the titles of restoration ambassadors.

Tax compliance certificate mandatory as of march 1 2010

Commencing March 1, 2010, commercial importers will require a Tax Compliance Certificate from the Commissioner of Inland Revenue in order to clear goods through any of the ports of entry in Antigua and Barbuda. This measure, which forms part of the government’s Fiscal Consolidation Programme, was introduced by amendments passed in 2009 to the Inland Revenue Administration Act and the Customs (Control and Management) Act.
