National Child Protection Policy for Antigua and Barbuda

October 4, 2009…. A consultancy team from the Children’s Legal Centre of London, is currently on island assisting with a project that will see the development of a National Child Protection Policy for Antigua and Barbuda.

The Citizen Welfare Division (CWD) within the Ministry of Social Transformation, along with the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) is spearheading the initiative.

Chief Welfare Officer at the CWD Faustina Jarvis said UNICEF is providing technical and financial support for the project.

Tourism Standards for Review

The Ministry of Tourism wishes to notify the General Public that the Beach and Water Sports Standards are presently open for public comment from March 10 to May 8 2009. The main focus of these standards is the service offered by water sports operators and their responsibility to the consumer. It also touches on the Ministry's responsibility as it safeguards general users of the beach.
