The street lighting project is running smoothly, according to the communications department within the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA). “To date, the project has been running according to schedule and the cables and foundation for the street lights have been laid in many areas,” said Corporate Communications Officer, Cathrona Samuel. Last December, APUA General Manager, Esworth Martin, along with representatives from the governments of Antigua & Barbuda and China, signed the final construction agreement, signaling the start of the installation of hundreds of street lights.

Housing Project At North Sound

Carlos Browne, Housing Consultant within the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment said so far, all surveys have been completed.
Excavation, clearing and earthwork are also being carried out. In the meantime, Browne said the foundation is set for the installing of infrastructure to include roads, drainage and sewage treatment plants.
The project which begun approximately 3-weeks ago would be constructed in three phases.
Housing project unveiled

The Housing minister while addressing the over 100 villagers at the JT Ambrose Primary, disclosed that this development of 312 houses will be a model community built for small and middle income earners, who are first time home owners.
Ninety (90) for of these homes are two bedrooms while the remaining 218 are three bedrooms.
Antigua's runway expansion work complete

According to the statement, officials are very pleased with the end product.
With the contract signed in early March of 2008, work began shortly thereafter and consisted mainly of the excavation of all soft top soil, with the sub base being filled with approximately 18 feet of material up to formation.
The total extension work covers about 300 metres and was done in two parts.
TRANSITION OF AIRPORT WORKERS TO THE AUTHORITY AND OTHER ISSUES

The Honourable Harold Lovell, Minister with responsibility for Civil Aviation, chaired the meeting.
