Petition Campaign To End Hunger begins

Students at the Environment Division Eco –Zone Camp, being held at the Mary E. Piggott School from July 12 –August 6, were informed about the devastating effects of hunger and the role they can play to eradicate the scourge through participation in the campaign of petition signing to end hunger.

On Friday, Ministry Officials, including the Permanent Secretary Clarence Pilgrim addressed the students, on the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations-led effort/petition drive, 1 billionhungry.org to reduce poverty as per the Millennium Development Goals.

Warriors Cup welcomes Harney Motors as a sponsor

Young Warriors Football Club (YWFC) today announced that Antiguan vehicular giant, Harney Motors, will be one of the sponsors of the Warriors Cup 2010 after months of negotiations.

A statement from the Club says they are delighted that Harney Motors has decided to assist with the staging of the sixth annual Warriors Cup, which will be contested from August 19-29. The preliminary round takes place at the YASCO Complex from August 19-22 and the final round is set for the Antigua Recreation Ground from August 26-29.

IWC Awards $35,000 in Scholarships to Antiguan Women

As part of their long-standing Scholarship Program, the International Women’s Club of Antigua and Barbuda awarded over $35,000 in grants to 10 Antiguan Women during a special afternoon tea held on 7 July at PJ’s Nursery.

JCI & MYST mapped clean path to fun with Sani Pro

The annual charity scavenger hunt and car rally sponsored by Sani Pro, themed “The Hunt”, and organized by JCI Antigua & Myst HUG held on Sunday 30th June 2010, left participants with noting but boggled minds and smiling faces. The rally brought together families and friends for a day of sweet and clean driving fun.

Antigua's Big Sister Programme

It has been five months since Queen of Carnival 2009 and Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2009, Shelana George, first began the implementation of the Big Sister Programme within the Sunshine Home for Girls. It has been a busy five months, filled with activities and one-on-one mentoring with the young ladies of the home. The programme has nine big sisters; a combination of caring smart women that are prominent figures in their communities.

Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2010 to Become Caribbean Regional Ambassador

St John’s, Antigua (20th May 2010) – As plans continue to unfold into the production of the 49th Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show 2010 on Friday 30th July 2010 at the Antigua Recreation Grounds, the committee headed by Chairperson Brenda Albert has announced that they will be seeking to transform the crowned Queen for 2010 into a regional Caribbean Ambassador.
