Chief Minister Meade to champion ICT Roadshow initiative in the region

BRADES, Montserrat (January 28, 2010) – Chief Minister Reuben T. Meade says he will champion the cause of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) on a regional level.

Speaking to Bernadette Lewis, Head of the CTU who visited the island this week to look at plans for hosting the ICT Roadshow in Montserrat, the chief minister said his government was committed to promoting the use of communications technology on all levels.

ICT Entrepreneur Ken Shipley left the island Tuesday to conduct a workshop in St.Vincent at the invitation of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), part of its ongoing anniversary roadshow.

The CTU is celebrating its 20th anniversary and its Antigua road show
stop was timed to coincide with the country's annual ICT Fest.
Shipley, founder of Search Antigua, was one of the Fest's workshop facilitators. Bernadette Lewis, secretary general of the CTU, was so impressed, she invited him to hit the road with them.

July 22, 2009 … Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the environment Hilson Baptiste has given a clear indication that `cutting-edge technology' will be installed at agricultural stations to raise crop yields and boost production.

Baptiste, fresh from an 29th executive committee meeting organized by the Inter –American Institute for Corporation On Agriculture (IICA), in Costa Rica said technology to boost agriculture was the main focus of the discussion.

This session was dubbed one of the most important for agriculture and rural life in the Americas.

Electronic traffic monitoring system coming soon

The Traffic Light Department of the Public Works Department (PWD) is in the process of installing an island-wide camera system that will be used to catch traffic offenders in the act.

Traffic technician Randy Davis said the department installed three cameras two weeks ago. These are located at the corners of Old Parham Road and the Sir George Walter Highway, American Road and All Saints Road and the multi-roadway system near the Golden Grove Primary School.
