Chief Minister Meade to champion ICT Roadshow initiative in the region

BRADES, Montserrat (January 28, 2010) – Chief Minister Reuben T. Meade says he will champion the cause of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) on a regional level.

Speaking to Bernadette Lewis, Head of the CTU who visited the island this week to look at plans for hosting the ICT Roadshow in Montserrat, the chief minister said his government was committed to promoting the use of communications technology on all levels.

Antigua benefits from e-learning training programme in Korea

The Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science & Technology is sending two officers to Seoul, South Korea to participate in an e-Learning training programme.

Michele Michael and Velva Willet of the award-winning Connect Antigua and Barbuda Initiative, will represent the nation at the three-week programme, which will be conducted by the Korean National IT Industry Promotion Agency.

Information Minister excited about technology initiatives

Information Minister Dr Edmund Mansoor revealed that the recently concluded ICT Fest and other IT initiatives are all part of the government’s attempts “demystify” ICTs, bridging not only the digital divide but, the divide between the developed and developing world. “It’s a great equaliser,” he said. One of the latest initiatives, announced at the fest is the plan for increased penetration of ICTs for educational purposes – building on what the Connect Antigua Barbuda Initiative has done with the Community Access Centres, the award winning mobile IT classrooms project, etc.

Klaus Ken Shipley is an entrepreneur, well known for his web design and graphic art work.
