St. Johns, Antigua: February 22, 2010 …The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment through the Sustainable Island Resource Management Mechanism (SIRMM), will be hosting a Visioning Consultation, on Friday 26th February, 2010 at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre, beginning at 8 a.m. with specific focus on issues relating Natural Land, Marine Resources, the Environment, Physical Development Infrastructure and Services.

The exercise, seeks to discuss issues relating to land development and land use in the state of Antigua and Barbuda.

Ministry launches annual Education Week

Students and teachers have been re-assured at the launch of ‘Education Week 2010’ that the Ministry of Education has their best interests at heart. Education week was launched Thursday under the theme, “Committed to Achieving Quality Education for All.”

Minister of Education, Sports, Youth and Gender Affairs Dr. Jacqui Quinn-Leandro in declaring the week open, pledged her ministry’s commitment to quality education.

Environment Cadet Teacher’s One-Day Workshop

JANUARY 25, 2010, ST JOHN’S ANIGUA ….On Friday, forty-five (45) Environmental Cadet Teachers sharpened their skills on the subject of biodiversity during a workshop being facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment.
Environment Educator Arica Hill explained that the one day workshop was the start of an important part of the Environment Cadet Programme.

She outlined that the cadet programme for the year entails discussions and field trips on biodiversity and ecosystems.

Front Desk Employees Complete 5-day Training To Upgrade Their Service Skills

(St. John’s, Antigua, January 23) A 5-day Certification Training Programme for Front Desk Employees came to a close last Friday (January 22) with all 25 participants writing the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute’s (AH&LEI) Hospitality Skills Certification Exam for Front Desk Representatives.

The participants represented fourteen (14) hotels across the island, and have a cumulative total of 130 years experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.
