uly 22, 2010 ….Some of the sponsors of the EcoZone Summer Camp are actively involved in improving the environmental situation in Antigua and Barbuda. One such example is the Sustainable Island Resource Management Mechanism (SIRMM) which is the platinum sponsor of the camp. One of the aims of the project is to improve the biodiversity in certain parts of the island. The project is focused on four main areas of the island: Body Ponds, Cades Bay, Wallings Forest and the North-West Coast.

Education for Advancement (EFA) has announced the availability of $50,000 in scholarships from its academic partner Ashworth College, a leading provider of accredited distance education in the U.S. The scholarship money will be used to assist Caribbean-based students pursuing a degree online in the 2010-2011 academic year. The funds will be divided up to provide one year full scholarships for up to twenty persons.
Caribbean rural women micro-entrepreneurs empowered

Thirty rural women micro-entrepreneurs from 12 countries across the Caribbean region have benefited from an important training exercise that will allow them to attain greater gender equality and further exploit business opportunities in an effort to increase production and productivity. All towards achieving the long term Millenium Development Goal (MDG) of ending poverty and hunger in the Caribbean region.

Author Pam Grier to Participate in Antigua & Barbuda Literary Festival in November

Her book, “Foxy: My Life in Three Acts,” was published by Grand Central Publishing this spring. It details her career from her rise as an actress in blackploitation films of the 1970s and her breakthrough role in Quentin Tarentino’s film “Jackie Brown” to her romantic involvements with Kareem Abdul Jabar, Freddie Prinze and Richard Pryor.
