Carnival, Hawksbill pay homage to Scottish couple

Carnival and tourism have an intrinsic bond and the common factor is people.

And there could not be any better manifestation of this than what has been done by the organisers of the opening parade for this year’s festival to a Scottish couple.

When chairperson Dulcie Looby –Greene was thinking about someone to carry the banner under the theme: ‘Carnival uniting people’, a vision struck her.

What about that duo who have been coming to the festival for the past 15 years, dancing all-night long at Lions – the Den for Carnival dances – and making themselves happy.

Antigua Carnival 2010 opened with a bang and a blast.

Chairman of the Carnival Development Committee (CDC) Vaughn Walter declared that Carnival 2010 was off to a grand start on Saturday night. The festivities received much praises and accolades. According o many, Vaughn Walter is working miracles with very limited financial resources. The Opening program committee, headed by Dulcie Looby-Greene, worked hard and produced an excellent program. Many of the revelers playing T-shirt mas’ said they were ready for Carnival 2010.

July 22, 2010 ....The Sustainable Island Resource Management Mechanism (sirmm) project has engaged the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing, and the Environment as staff within the Environment Division and Forestry unit deliver its outcome in rehabilitating the Body Ponds Watershed.

It is through their tremendous hard work that much publicity has been generated with the assistance of the Ministry of Tourism, to gather much support in tree planting within the demo site.

LIAT Caribbean Melting Pot

(July 15, 2010) Wadadli Vibes Promotions - WVP in collaboration with the Carnival Development Committee - CDC wishes to inform the general public that the show “Soca Fusion”, which was scheduled to feature acts as Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann Lyons & the Asylum band out of Trinidad, will now be incorporated into the LIAT Caribbean Melting Pot. This will be held at Carnival City on Wednesday 28th July 2010 beginning at 8:00pm

Heritage Quay 2010 Summer Fest LunchTime LIME Pre-Launch A Success

(15th July 2010, St John’s, Antigua) Heritage Quay came alive on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th July 2010, with the prelaunch of the “Summer Festival” 2010 Lunchtime Lime” presented by the collaborative efforts of the Heritage Quay Merchants Association, LIME, Carnival Development Committee and the St John’s Development Corporation.

Another Seafood Fiesta planned for August 8th, 2010

St. Johns Antigua, July 15, 2010… Back by popular demand, the date for another seafood fiesta is being set, for August 8, 2010 at the Urlings Wharf, from 12 –noon.

The seafood fiesta is an effort by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment geared towards the continuation of its promotion of sustainable Livelihood.

Fisher-folks, vendors and residents, are encouraged to participate and patronize and join in the abundance and variety of seafood offered, at the Seafood Fiesta.
